Job Description

This is a full-time, hourly, Program Coordinator position. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising various inclusive programs throughout the Ability360 Sports & Fitness Center continuum of services.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate various recreation and adaptive sports programs.
  • This position serves as the lead staff member for all field trips, both in recruiting and programming.
  • Coordinate and Direct Special Events, Tournaments, and Sports Camps.
  • Point of contact for appointed facility rentals and responsible for periodic management of such rentals.
  • Maintain schedule integrity according to Easy Time Clock management.
  • Collaborate with hospitals, clinics, and other community organizations to offer a variety of Ability360 Sports & Fitness Center programs.
  • Assist in facility and equipment maintenance.
  • Assist with registration of participants; maintain related records.
  • Facilitate programs within Ability360 Sports & Fitness Center Initiatives.
  • Maintain communication with members, members’ parents and/or guardians.
  • Assist with grant research, writing and management as needed.
  • Perform administrative aspects of Ability360 required for Ability360 employees including shared scheduling and documents.
  • Develop marketing skills including social media, newsletters and print.
  • Maintain proper documentation in membership software including, but not limited to, account balancing and minor budgetary accountability.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Hours

Work schedule requires a great deal of flexibility and is dependent upon program needs and will include some early mornings, evenings and weekends. Please only apply if you can fulfill the time requirements. 

Supervisory Responsibility

Supervision is exercised over Park and Recreation/ Non-Profit interns, students, and volunteers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Considerable knowledge of Adaptive Sports and Recreation principles, theories and techniques. Advanced knowledge of adaptive equipment in sports and recreation programs. Knowledge of recreation program risk management. Excellent public relations and customer service skills; verbal and written communication skills; planning, organizational, supervision, and problem solving skills. Ability to use independent judgment and initiative. Basic computer skills, including word processing. Exceptional ability to work cooperatively with others and create a positive, constructive relationship with staff and Sports & Fitness Center members.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation or related field (Master’s Degree preferred) and five year of progressive work experience in program leadership and supervision of adaptive sports and recreation programs, including working with individuals that have a wide variety of abilities; or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the above-described duties. Applicant must have at least one year of experience working with people with disabilities. Must have current First Aid and CPR certification. Clean criminal background required.

Working Conditions

Pressures and stress of the position include dealing with crisis situations, meeting deadlines and supporting a wide variety of participant and staff needs. High level of responsibility including supervision of volunteers and interns.
