360Outdoors – Mainstream Expedition

Grand Canyon White Water Rafting

August 19-30, 2022

Mainstream Expedition is an 12-day river rafting trip through the Grand Canyon on the Colorado River for adults over 21 who have mobility, sensory or cognitive limitations. The trip is fully guided with support and medical staff.

Exploring the wilderness by river is one of the most exhilarating, rewarding experiences there is, and the Colorado River through Grand Canyon National Park is considered to be among the best rafting available in the world. As the river carries us 226 miles downstream, the dramatic scenery and powerful rapids make each day rich with the best nature has to offer.  River rafts provide the perfect medium for people to safely experience the Canyon’s unique history, geology and wildlife, regardless of ability.

Join us in the summer of 2022 for a twelve-day Colorado River adventure designed to meet the needs of persons with all abilities.  This inclusive trip is proudly organized by Ability360 under the Legacy of Daring Adventures who has been providing River Rafting through the Canyon since 1991.  Our journey will be co-hosted by Arizona River Runners, a professional river company experienced and committed to making raft trips accessible to everyone, breaking down barriers and reducing limitations for those with disabilities.  Whether you are a seasoned outdoor enthusiast or a first-time camper, join us for the adventure trip of a lifetime! Your adult family members are invited to share in the adventure as well, space permitting.

Through grants and other funding sources we are able to reduce the cost of this trip from over $5,600 per person to $2,950 per person. This trip fee includes: transportation from Phoenix to the river’s edge at Lee’s Ferry; an overnight lodging at Marble Canyon Lodge; eleven fantastic days on the river complete with meals and beverages; camping equipment such as tents, sleeping bags and dry bags, commemorative t-shirt and mug; and transportation from Diamond Creek (our take-out site) back to Phoenix. Limited financial assistance is available. If financial assistance is requested, apply immediately!

Once your application is received, it will be reviewed by a selection committee. Space is extremely limited; participants will be selected based on your compelling autobiography and explanation about why this trip is important to you. If selected, you will receive a packet of information with trip further details including trip orientation, payment information, lodging, transportation, packing, weather… all of your additional questions! Each person will be required to have a physical form completed by their doctor. Space is limited, apply now and take a minute to tell us what this trip is going to mean to you!

We can’t wait to get you on board!

Thank you to our friends who have helped to make this trip possible! Grand Canyon Fund, George Bohnert Scholarship Fund and Arizona River Runners.
