Disability Voting Rights Week – Informative Session
With over 38 million individuals with disabilities that are eligible to vote, there remains access barriers that would keep these individuals from their right to vote. On Wednesday, September 13th, from 1-3pm, Ability360 will host a voter education event with Maricopa County Elections in the Conference Center. A presentation and demonstrations of accessible voting equipment will be shown.
Maricopa County Elections Department will provide education on the services they provide for people with disabilities and hands on demonstration of the election equipment that voters will find in each Vote Centers for the upcoming General Election. The election equipment includes accessible voting devices which serves those with vision, hearing, and movement disabilities. Participants will learn about curbside voting, how to request braille and large print ballots, and how to request in-person assistance from the bi-partisan Special Election Board.
