(virtual) Holiday Drumming Circle
Drum Circle is a musical expression that has been done all over the world for thousands of years, bringing people together as a community to make music and connect with one another. In this program, we will explore sounds together and strengthen our connection to our community through the use of recreational music and intention. Drum Circle has been shown to decrease stress, raise immunities, and lower blood pressure, among many other health benefits, not the least of which is just putting a smile on your face. Drum circles, or contemporary drumming, is ancient practice and are a space of cultural inclusion which is a new practice.
What you will need to participate from home:
For this virtual drum circle, you are invited to use any type of percussive instrument, so this is your chance to get creative! Think outside of the box and let’s have some fun together — pots, pans, boxes, shakers, noisemakers, etc. are all welcome! We will also be singing some familiar and favorite songs! No musical experience is required. This is a judgement free zone, so just bring your willingness to learn, participate, and connect!
*This class is for your personal enjoyment only. Monica and Andrew are not music therapists, and this is not a music therapy class
