Disability Empowerment Center
5025 East Washington Street, Phoenix AZ 85034

Event Description:
Attendees will learn how to build inner strength to compete for success and victory in the game of life! The event will also promote Arizona Bridge to Independent Living and the Virginia G. Piper Sports & Fitness Center (SpoFit).

Background:
Greg Smith, who has a disability, is an African American speaker, author and broadcaster with roots in the Valley. He was once the host of “Cardinal Talk” on the Cardinals Radio Network (1990-‐1992).  He worked at KTAR radio and resigned in 1992 to start a local talk show on disability issues called “On A Roll.” The program became nationally syndicated, taking Smith on a journey that has led him from the cover of the Wall Street Journal to over 2 million households in a PBS documentary about his life.

Greg left Phoenix in 1995 and he is returning to be the keynote speaker at the Diversity Leadership Alliance Annual Conference on November 1, 2013.  While in town, he is having an event to allow his many friends, followers and the general public a chance to hear his motivational presentation!  He is teaming up
with his National Speakers Association colleague, Deborah Gardner, a Valley
resident who is an expert on “Competitive Performance.”

Objectives:
To offer the Phoenix area general public a motivational two-‐hour presentation by “The Strength Coach,” Greg Smith, and “Competitive Performance Expert” Deborah Gardner. To promote and raise funds for the Arizona Bridge to Independent Living and the Virginia G. Piper Sports and Fitness Center for Persons with Disabilities (SpoFit). $10 donations will go directly to Arizona Bridge to Independent Living.
