PHOENIX, Ariz. (March 17, 2020) – The Ability360 Sports & Fitness Center, 5031 E. Washington St. in Phoenix, will close beginning at 6 p.m. this evening. Ability360 Sports & Fitness Center management will continue to regularly monitor updates, recommendations and direction relating to COVID-19, or the coronavirus, to determine when the facility will reopen.
All outdoor recreation programs have been put on hiatus. Updates as to restarting the programs and reopening the Sports & Fitness Center will be announced in early April.
The Ability360 office complex at 5025 E. Washington St., will remain open during business hours. Enhanced cleaning and sanitizing protocols have been put in place at the office complex.
“In an abundance of caution because of our concern for the health and well being of our clients, staff, donors and volunteers, we felt this was the right decision to make at this time as difficult as it was,” said Gus LaZear, Vice President and General Manager at the Ability360 Sports & Fitness Center. “We will gauge the current situation on a daily basis to determine timing to reopen the Sports & Fitness Center and restart outdoor programming.”
LaZear encouraged Ability360 Sports & Fitness Center members to adhere to recommendations from healthcare professionals in terms of social distancing, hand washing and sanitizing and “to maintain as much as possible regular exercise regimens at home because it is important to maintaining your health.”
