SpoFit would like to congratulate Kathi Reichert on being August’s Volunteer of the Month.
Kathi has been a dedicated volunteer at SpoFit for approximately 2 years now, mainly assisting in the fitness room, rock climbing wall and special event such as Get Out Get Active and youth school field trips. After retiring from the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department, she wanted to spend her free time volunteering for a worthwhile organization. Kathi attended a meeting at ABILITY360’s campus, which included a tour of SpoFit. Kathi stated that SpoFit has a beautiful facility and was impressed with the programs it offered and shortly after began volunteering.
Kathi is originally from a small town outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She went to school out West and graduated from Brigham Young University in Recreation Administration. After graduating, she went on to work for the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department for over 27 years. Some of Kathi’s passions are hiking, rollerblading, backpacking, mountain biking, scuba diving, rock climbing and kayaking. She also loves to travel and is planning a trip this fall to China, Tibet and Mongolia. Kathi also volunteers at the Grand Canyon where she works with the Preventative Search and Rescue Division and gets the opportunity to meet and talk to people from all over the world. She walks the trails to make sure hikers have a smart plan and are prepared for the rigorous trails and extreme heat in the Grand Canyon.
Kathi’s favorite aspect of volunteering at SpoFit is the really friendly people she gets to work with, from the other volunteers, to the staff as well as the SpoFit members. She also enjoys working with people who are interested in getting healthy and having fun.
Thank you Kathi for all you hard work and dedication. You volunteering, helps to make SpoFit the place it is today!
