Guest Director
Layne Racowsky obtained her MFA in Directing at The New School for Drama in New York City and has a background in theatre education, theatre for social change, and new play development. Prior to joining the Performance Department faculty at GCC, Layne has worked as the head of the drama department at Paramount Academy as well as the Education Director at Arizona Jewish Theatre Company. She has also worked with several other valley theatres such Southwest Shakespeare Theatre, Theatre Works, Black Theatre Troupe, and Theatre Artists Studio. She has been recognized by the AriZoni Awards for Theatre Excellence for her work on Based On a Totally True Story (GCC) which was nominated for Best Director and Best Overall Production as well as her work on Night of the Living Dead (Theatre Works) which was also nominated for Best Overall Production. Some of her other directing credits include Comedy of Errors (Southwest Shakespeare Theatre Touring Production) The Immigrant and My Name is Asher Lev (AJTC), Friendly Fire (The Cell Theater), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Gateway Playhouse), and Purge Partners (Samuel French Festival Finalist, 2006).
