Olympic Day, held annually on June 23, is celebrated by millions of people in more than 160 countries. Commemorating the birth of the modern Olympic Games, Olympic Day on June 23, 1894, Olympic Day’s mission is to promote fitness, well-being, culture and education, while promoting the Olympic values – excellence, friendship and respect – and the three Olympic Day pillars – move, learn and discover – in every corner of the globe.
From May 31-June 30, communities across the United States will celebrate Olympic Day 2015 through educational programming and other activities.
The U.S. Olympic Committee has developed a turnkey program to assist communities across the nation in celebrating Olympic Day. The USOC will work with nearly 10,000 U.S. Olympians and Paralympians to share their experiences and the role that the Olympic ideals have played in their lives at as many Olympic Day celebrations as possible.
