Volunteer Opportunities

Ability360 Sports & Fitness Center is a great place to volunteer! Our volunteers assist members and staff in order to provide the most optimal experience for participation and independence.
Opportunities include:

  • Fitness Room Volunteers - Assist members to be as independent as possible on the equipment. Volunteers provide support and assistance as needed. All volunteers will be trained on equipment.
  • Youth Program Volunteers - Have fun playing recreation games and sports with children of all ages and abilities, while assisting staff.
  • Rock Wall Volunteers - Assist staff in the facilitation of weekly rock climbing classes or during special events. Volunteers will be trained to belay by a staff member. Specific criteria does apply.
  • 360Outdoors Volunteers - Assist staff and participants in the great outdoors! This could include helping with our adaptive mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, camping, or rafting trips. Volunteers will be required to go through additional trainings as well as the required volunteer onboarding process.
  • Special Events and Tournaments Volunteers - Assisting staff during events in or out of the facility. Responsibilities specific to tournament and event. If you want to help out with a specific event, please contact Abby for more information.

Our Sports & Fitness Volunteer Opportunity Calendar

Required For All Event & Tournament Volunteers

Step 1: Email Abby Nuss at abbyn@ability360.org to be added to the events volunteer list so she can send you any future tournament/event sign ups or if there is a specific event you are wanting to volunteer with.
Step 2: Sign waivers that are on every volunteer sign up that Abby sends out.
Step 3: Please show up on time for task you are volunteering for and make sure to call or email if you are unable to attend so we can fill in the spot.

**We will train you day of tournament/event. You do not need to fill out a volunteer application, complete the criminal history form or any of the orientations if ONLY helping with Special Events or Tournaments.**

Required For All New Program or Fitness Volunteers

Step 1: Volunteers MUST complete the volunteer application BEFORE registering to volunteer with any outdoor programming, fitness center shifts, youth programs, belaying at the Rockwall, adaptive sports, etc.
Step 2: Volunteer interview- After volunteers complete the application, Abby will reach out to schedule a phone call for a volunteer interview to discuss different volunteer opportunities and how the training process will look.
Step 3: Complete paperwork- Volunteers are asked to fill out a Criminal History Self-Disclosure Affidavit that MUST be notarized (only if over 18 years of age).

Read and sign a liability waiver, media release waiver, and volunteer agreement form.

Step 4: First orientation with Polly Queen, Manager of Volunteers at Ability360 and will be over zoom. Polly will go over Person first language and the history of Ability360.
Step 5: Second and last orientation with Brielle Carter, Senior Manager of Operations and Sports & Fitness Center. Brielle will discuss policies and procedures of the Sports & Fitness Center and go over scheduling, tracking volunteer hours, etc.

**Please allow at least two weeks after filling out volunteer application for Abby to reach out.**
